2019 SolarizeAlexandria Program Returns!
Press Release: 2019 SolarizeAlexandria Program Returns!
SolarizeAlexandria, a program to make it easier and more affordable for residents to install solar power systems on Alexandria homes, will hold its fourth annual campaign April 16, 2019 through June 5, 2019. The program provides a free solar site assessment for your home or business; discount pricing through bulk purchasing; project facilitation and qualified installation; financing and federal tax incentive options; and qualification for the City of Alexandria's Solar Energy Equipment Tax Exemption.
Each property owner who register for the SolarizeAlexandria program will receive a free, no-obligation solar site assessment for their home or business. During this assessment, a qualified solar energy professional will evaluate whether solar power is a good option for the home. Homeowners who would like to pursue solar can take advantage of discounted prices that leverage regional bulk pricing. Since 1978, the Alexandria City Code has provided a real estate tax exemption for the value of certified solar energy equipment.
The City is hosting three information sessions to learn more about SolarizeAlexandria and solar power options for your home.

- Monday, May 13, 2019 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Leonard "Chick" Armstrong Recreation Center (25 W Reed Avenue)

As part of the SolarizeAlexandria campaign, the City of Alexandria and the Northern Virginia Regional Commission (NVRC) provide the Northern Virginia Solar Map online tool for homeowners to conduct a preliminary analysis of the solar energy potential for their homes. The Northern Virginia Solar Map provides information on the potential size and electricity savings of a solar power system.
Alexandria joins the nonprofit Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP) to offer Solarize programs with other Northern Virginia localities, including the cities of Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas Park, and Vienna, and Fairfax and Prince William counties. LEAP also works with other localities to provide Solarize and home energy efficiency programs throughout Virginia.
