RAPID RESPONSE SERVICE:
Employers who are projecting layoffs of 50 or more workers are eligible for assistance from the Workforce Development Center through the Rapid Response program. Services targeted at affected workers can include career counseling, assisted job search, career seminars and career clubs, and referrals to Unemployment Insurance resources.

Recruitment Process | Marketing & Promotion

We offer no-cost business services to support your hiring needs, and in return, we simply ask for your hiring outcomes so we can report back to the City on the impact of our efforts.

Recruitment Process

RECRUIT​

Allow us to assist in recruiting talent according to your specifications. We'll conduct the initial round of screening for candidates to pinpoint the most qualified applicants.

 

INTERVIEW​

Schedule a hiring event with us or arrange individual interviews. Opt for in-person venues or access to virtual job fair platforms like Zoom and Premier Virtual no cost to Employers.

 

FOLLOW UP​

Following referrals and/or hiring events, it's crucial for employers to provide placement information. Providing a list of approved candidates and hire data allows for quality assurance and tracking for return on investment.

Marketing & Promotion

•Customized marketing materials including, Business & Job Spotlight Flyers and weekly “Featured Job” listings.

•Online advertising through social media including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and X.

•Online job postings of positions through our job board at wdc.alexandriava.gov. Manage jobs, search for candidates and review resumes for specific qualifications

•Meet the Employer​: An informational session conducted virtually or in-person to get to know more about the openings, company, working environment, and more.

  • Manage Jobs - Select this option to add a new, or change an existing job listing you wish to display online using our Job Order System. Here you can also review potential candidates that are interested in a specific job posting.
     
  • Candidate Search - Select this option to find and review the Resumes of candidates that have the qualifications you need. If you have a Resume number from a previous search, click here to search by that number.
  • Review Job Applicants - Select this option to view a list of your job orders that individuals have applied to. From here, you will be able to view their Resumes (if attached) and indicate their status.
  • Schedule a Recruitment - Email wdc@alexandriava.gov to schedule a hiring event such as a Career/Job Fair, meeting room, screening for potential candidates or facilities for interviewing and training, a Meet the Employer session, or have any questions.

Incentives

THE FULL EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

  • FEP is a special program for individuals participating in VIEW to obtain paid work experience for up to six months. An FEP participant will earn a paycheck and continue to receive TANF benefits. ​
  • Employers can receive a monthly stipend for a maximum of 6 months when they hire an FEP Participant to work an average of 20 hours or more a week.​

 

Employers receive stipends based on tiers:

Tier I - $500 per month: When participants work on average 20 - 29 hours

Tier II - $750 per month: When participants work on average 30 - 39 hours

Tier III - $1,000 per month: When participants work on average 40 hours or more

 

THE FEDERAL BONDING PROGRAM (FBP)​

  • FBP bonds protect the employer against losses caused by the fraudulent or dishonest acts of the bonded employee.
  • Examples of such acts of employee dishonesty include theft, forgery, larceny, and embezzlement. Employers receive the FBP bonds free-of-charge as an incentive to hire these applicants.
  • Each FBP bond has a $5,000 limit with $0 deductible and covers the first six months of a selected individual’s employment.
