November 11, 2021--The Parent Infant Education program (PIE) will be hosting a two-day early intervention family engagement event called “Fall In Love with PIE & Learn the Basics” on November 17 and November 19.

The first day of the early intervention family engagement event will be hosted at Casa Chirilagua, a nonprofit organization located at 4109 Mt Vernon Ave, Alexandria, VA 22305, on November 17, from 9 a.m. to noon.

The second day of the event on November 19 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. will be held at the William Ramsay Recreation Center, located at 5650 Sanger Ave, Alexandria, VA 22311.

During the event families will be provided with:

  • Information related to the Infant & Toddler Connection of Alexandria/Parent Infant Education (PIE) Program
  • Onsite developmental screenings using the Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ-3 and ASQ-SE)
  • Developmental Tool Kits for all children enrolled in the PIE Program
  • Information about “The Basics Insights”
  • Opportunity to participate in ALIVE! pop-up food distribution

The event is an outcome of a collaboration among Alexandria’s Parent Infant Education program and Kids’ First Years and ALIVE!

The Parent Infant Education program provides early intervention support and services to infants and toddlers who are not developing as expected or who have a medical condition that can delay normal development. The services are available for all eligible children birth through age two and their families regardless of the household’s ability to pay. The program is part of the statewide early intervention program known as the Infant & Toddler Connection of Virginia.

Kids’ First Years is a partnership of people and organizations in Alexandria that work together to provide comprehensive support, care and education for all of the city’s young children and their families. The group helps families find opportunities, care and learning experiences for young children such as resources for expecting mothers, childcare, healthcare, special needs services, playgroups and preschool.

ALIVE! Is one of the oldest and largest private safety net agencies in the City of Alexandria dedicated to fighting poverty and hunger. ALIVE! serves thousands of individuals every month, providing food, transitional shelters, financial help, eviction prevention, furniture and housewares and early education.
