DCHS Offering Virtual Medicare Workshop Series

A DCHS CONNECT NEWS HIGHLIGHT

February 5, 2021--The Department of Community and Human Services is offering a series of virtual workshops about Medicare, a federal health insurance program for people who are 65 and older, individuals under 65 with certain disabilities and any age with end stage renal disease or Lou Gerhig’s disease.

The Division of Aging and Adult Services is offering the workshop series for residents who are new to Medicare or a caregiver for a Medicare beneficiary. The workshops provide information on how Medicare works, the different parts of the health insurance program and how to get the most out of Medicare coverage. Upcoming workshops include:

  • Medicare 101, Tuesday, February 16 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

  • Original Medicare, Tuesday, March 2, 10-11 a.m.

  • Medigap, Tuesday, March 9, 10-11 a.m.

  • Medicare Advantage, Tuesday, March 16, 10-11 a.m.

  • Medicare Part D, Tuesday, March 23, 10-11 a.m.

The workshops are free, but advanced registration is required. Visit alexandriava.gov/Aging to sign up as registration becomes available for these and additional workshops. Workshop information and registration links will be listed on the web site as registration opens for individual workshops; check the web site periodically for updates. For more information, call 703.746.5999 or email DAAS@alexandriava.gov.
