Alexandria Police Captain Graduates From Prestigious FBI National Academy

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 19, 2023

Alexandria Police Captain Courtney Ballantine graduated from the FBI National Academy on Friday, September 15, 2023.

Captain Courtney Ballantine graduated as a part of the 287th session of which one percent of law enforcement officers are selected to attend.

“This opportunity has allowed me to learn and grow with fellow law enforcement executives from around the world and I look forward to bringing some of these new ideas to Alexandria,” said Captain Ballantine.

The FBI National Academy is held at the FBI Academy in Quantico and consists of 10 weeks of coursework in advanced public communications, managing critical incidents, public speaking, leading at-risk employees and the wellness of employees, establishing, and maintaining relationships with the community, and an intensive physical fitness program.

Members are graduates of the FBI’s National Academy Program, representing all 50 states, 194 countries, and over 8,200 law enforcement agencies. Over 54,000 graduates have completed the FBINA Program.

Captain Ballantine has been with the Department for over 23 years.  He is currently the Commander of the Community Engagement Division of the Alexandria Police Department. Captain Ballantine joins the following current Alexandria police officers who completed the FBI National Academy: Chief Don Hayes, Captain Monica Lisle, Captain Jerry Newcomb, Lieutenant Steve Carr, Lieutenant Mike May, and Lieutenant Tara May.

As an agency, we would like to thank Captain Ballantine for his dedication to our profession and welcome him back.
