Medical Examiner Determines Cause of Death of Man Found in River

Alexandria, Va. – The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Virginia has ruled the death of 32-year-old Keben Isaias Perez as an accidental drowning.

Medical Examiner Confirms Identification of Man Found in River  

Alexandria, Va. – The Alexandria Police Department has now received identification of the man found deceased in the river near Four Mile Run Park, as 32-year-old Keben Isaias Perez, a resident of Alexandria. The Chief Medical Examiner released his identity following a fingerprint analysis. The cause and manner of death are still undetermined pending further forensic testing. 

Mr. Perez was found deceased in the 4100 block of Mount Vernon Avenue on Wednesday, April 24.

Alexandria Police Department Awaits Medical Examiner to Identify Man Found in River 

Alexandria, Va. – The Alexandria Police Department continues to investigate the death of a man found in the river in the 4100 block of Mount Vernon Avenue, near Four Mile Run Park on Wednesday, April 24.   

Currently, investigators await the findings of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the decedent’s identity and cause of death; no identification was found on his person.  

Preliminary autopsy results have determined there were no obvious signs of trauma. 

This death is not related to the incident that occurred on N. Henry on Monday.

Mount Vernon Death Investigation Update

The Alexandria Police Department is conducting a death investigation. This afternoon, at approximately 1:27 PM, the Alexandra Police Department responded to a call for the report of a deceased person in the river in the 4100 block of Mount Vernon Avenue, near Four Mile Run Park. Officers discovered an adult male who was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy and determine the cause and manner of death.

Detectives are actively investigating this case and the Alexandra Police Department is asking that anyone with information regarding this incident please call our non-emergency number at 703-746-4444.
