APA Virginia Presentation

In 2014, the City of Alexandria approved a comprehensive Implementation Plan for Alexandria’s Public Art Policy, and allowed for public art to be negotiated as a part of the development review process. This was a milestone for public art in Alexandria. Over the past ten years, the City of Alexandria has seen growth in arts in public spaces. During this presentation, the City of Alexandria’s planners and Public Art Program administrators discuss the city’s public art implementation efforts over the past 10 years. Staff instrumental in developing the Implementation Plan share lessons learned and friendly tips for planners interested in developing arts and culture policies for their own jurisdictions.
