Learn and Take Environmental Action with Eco-City Alexandria
Eco-City Alexandria has two ways for residents to get involved in environmental action this fall. Whether you want to volunteer with your neighbors or learn more about local climate initiatives, check out two opportunities.
Eco-City Academy
The Eco-City Academy gives Alexandria residents the knowledge and tools to take an active role in advancing the City's climate, energy, and sustainability efforts. Through presentations, interactive activities, and discussions with City staff, participants gain a deeper understanding of the City's Environmental Action Plan and learn how they can help build a greener, more resilient community.
The 2026 Eco-City Academy will take place on:
- Saturday, September 19, 2026
- Saturday, September 26, 2026
Both sessions will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at:
Patrick Henry Recreation Center
4653 Taney Avenue, Room C
Alexandria, VA 22304
The Academy is offered free of charge and is open to Alexandria residents who are 17 years of age or older. Lunch will be provided on both days. Sessions will be conducted in person and in English.
Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on August 12, 2026. Space is limited, and participants will be randomly selected from each Alexandria ZIP code.
