Emergency rental assistance is available to Alexandria residents who are at risk of eviction due to unexpected income loss and have an income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. The FY25 rental assistance budget is $916,882, and as of March 21, 2025, $633,933.82 of the budget has been expended to assist 216 households in alleviating their housing crisis. The average monthly expenditure is $79,241. If this rate of spending continues, the total expenditures could reach $871,656. It is possible that the need for rental assistance could increase due to federal policy shifts, but it is not possible at this time to estimate the amount of additional funding that might be needed.
