Celebrating a Century: Honoring Alexandria’s Centenarians This September
Do you know someone in the City of Alexandria who will be 100 years old or older by December 31? The City is honored to announce a special celebration in honor of its centenarians, taking place on Tuesday, September 9 at 5 p.m. at Alexandria City Hall in the Vola Lawson Lobby (301 King St.). This event is a heartfelt tribute to the older adults in our community who have reached the extraordinary milestone of 100 years.
Living a full century is more than just a numerical achievement, it’s a powerful benchmark of resilience and wisdom. Each centenarian carries with them a lifetime of stories, experiences, and contributions that have helped shaped families, neighborhoods and the city itself. Their lives reflect a legacy of perseverance through social change, personal growth, and countless moments of joy and hardship that deserve to be celebrated and honored.
This September we’ll honor these incredible individuals with public recognition that celebrates not only their age, but their legacy and the lives they have touched along the way.
Nominations are now open and will be accepted through Monday, August 12. If you know an Alexandrian who will be 100 or older by the end of this year, we encourage you to nominate them for this well-deserved honor!
