TONIGHT: City of Alexandria to Present Early Design for Taylor Run Infrastructure Stabilization Project

The City of Alexandria invites community members to learn about infrastructure stabilization measures planned for Taylor Run at a community meeting on Thursday, November 13 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Charles Houston Recreation Center Multipurpose Room (901 Wythe Street).

Virtual attendance via Zoom is also available. Registration is required. Please complete the following form to receive the meeting link and passcode: zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_p0KP-9_ASUiaBFNNi5XJ1g

Project team members will lead a presentation on the project goals, planned improvements, 30 percent design plans, potential construction impacts, and the preliminary project schedule. The presentation will be followed by a public question-and-answer period.

The Taylor Run Infrastructure Stabilization Project focuses on protecting critical, at-risk stormwater and sanitary sewer infrastructure, through a targeted, minimal intervention approach. In 2022 and 2023, City staff worked with community members through the Stream Health Improvement Community Collaboration, to develop recommendations for stabilizing the critical infrastructure along Taylor Run. The final recommendations that reached consensus were approved by City Council in 2023 and serve as the foundation for the design moving forward.

For more information, visit the Taylor Run Infrastructure Stabilization webpage.

Following the community meeting, a recording will be made available for review by November 15th. We welcome and encourage your comments, which may be submitted through the Smartsheet link here: https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/03561b4916e8473381f29c9d41bfcd8d

All comments should be submitted by close of business on November 21.
