Alexandria, VA - The Alexandria Police Department (APD) is saddened to share an update regarding the search for Alexandria man, Hieu Ngo, 29, who was reported missing earlier this month. Yesterday morning, at approximately 10 a.m. Mr. Ngo was found deceased in the wooded area of Joseph Hensley Park (4200 Eisenhower Ave) near the Capital Beltway.
Mr. Ngo was reported missing to APD on December 1.
Detectives of the Criminal Investigations Division conducted a comprehensive missing person investigation, working closely with the family. During the investigation, information was discovered indicating that Mr. Ngo may have walked into a secluded area near his home to harm himself.
This led APD to initiate a more comprehensive search effort in the wooded section of Joseph Hensley Park with mutual aid from the Arlington County Police Department and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM).
Mr. Ngo’s body was located in the wooded area. The initial investigation does not indicate that the death is suspicious. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death.
APD extends our deepest condolences to Mr. Ngo’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. We also thank the community members and partner agencies who supported efforts to locate him.
