RPCA Natural Resources is entering an exciting new chapter. Our website has been refreshed with updated information, new leadership, and a growing lineup of programs and events designed to help residents connect more deeply with Alexandria’s natural spaces. With new Natural Resources Managers on board and a renewed focus on education, stewardship, and community engagement, there has never been a better time to explore, learn, and get involved.

Meet the Natural Resources Managers

Raychel Frye
Raychel brings a strong background in wildlife management and environmental stewardship, with experience ranging from the U.S. Forest Service to habitat and wildlife management for the Gila River Indian Community. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Conservation Biology and Ecology from Arizona State University and is passionate about native plants, wildlife, and sustainable land management. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, camping, and traveling with her two dogs, Indy and Iris.

Katrina Napora
Katrina grew up surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains and holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Biology from Christopher Newport University and a master’s degree in Environmental Science and Policy from George Mason University. Before joining RPCA, she spent three years with the U.S. Geological Survey focusing on streams and wetlands research. She brings a strong scientific foundation and a deep commitment to environmental stewardship, along with a love for music, baking, dancing, and community involvement.

 

 

Coming Soon: Get Involved with Natural Resources

Big things are ahead for Natural Resources in Alexandria!

  • January 2026: Learn how to protect local trees with a new educational video on spotted lanternfly egg removal.
  • February: Celebrate the season with a spring ephemerals feature highlighting early blooms in our parks.
  • March: Join us for a guided nature walk, meet the Natural Resources Managers, and look for spring ephemerals together. Event details coming soon.
  • April: It’s Earth month! Take part in meet and greet sessions at local parks and recreation centers featuring education, program updates, and open conversation with the RPCA Natural Resources team.

Following these outreach events, a Natural Resources feedback survey will be released to gather public input. By December 2026, all feedback will be compiled and shared on the website, and a summary of community engagement will be presented to RPCA senior leadership, relevant commissions, and key stakeholders. Together, we are shaping the future of Natural Resources in Alexandria.
