March 10, 2026- The ALX Preschool application for the 2025-2026 school year opened on March 9. ALX Preschool is a Network of preschool providers working together to serve eligible children ages 3 and 4 across the city.  The program connects families to high-quality early learning programs through a coordinated enrollment system in which families complete a single application that is used to determine eligibility and match children with participating preschool providers. The system is designed to make access to preschool more accessible for Alexandria residents.

To be eligible, children must live in the City of Alexandria and be four years-old on or before September 30 of the school year for which they are applying.

ALX preschool programs support early childhood development by helping children build important skills in language, literacy, math, social interaction, and problem-solving. These early learning experiences help prepare children for kindergarten and future academic success.

After submitting an application, the ALX Preschool team will contact families to review the application and collect required documentation to complete registration and enrollment.
