Pursuant to the City of Alexandria Collective Bargaining Ordinance, Title 2, Chapter 5, Article E, Sec. 2-5-67-2-5-85, an election by secret ballot was conducted beginning February 2, 2026 and ending on March 2, 2026, under the supervision of the City of Alexandria Labor Relations Administrator. Therefore, by virtue of and pursuant to the power vested in the City of Alexandria Labor Relations Administrator by the City of Alexandria Collective Bargaining Ordinance, Title 2, Chapter 5, Article E, Sec. 2-5-67-2-5-85, it is hereby:

CERTIFIED, that the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, Council 20, Local 3001 (“AFSCME Local 3001”) has been selected as the exclusive bargaining agent for the purposes of collective bargaining by the majority of the valid ballots cast in the Professional bargaining unit. Per Sec. 2-5-72 (d), the professional bargaining unit consists of those non-supervisory and non-managerial employees within the definition of “professional employee” as set forth in sec. 2-5-68. Per Sec. 2-5-68, professional employee means an employee exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and whose primary duty is the performance of work: (1) requiring knowledge of an advanced type in a field of science or learning customarily acquired by a prolonged course of specialized intellectual instruction; or (2) requiring invention, imagination, originality, or talent in a recognized field of artistic or creative endeavor.

AFSCME Local 3001 is the exclusive bargaining agent of all professional bargaining unit employees.
