The City of Alexandria's Draft Five-Year Consolidated Plan for the period July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2031 and Draft One-Year Action Plan for the period July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027 for Housing and Community Development will be available for a comment period beginning on or about Monday, March 23, 2026 and ending Wednesday, April 22, 2026.  Persons wishing to comment on the Draft Five-Year Consolidated Plan and Draft One-Year Action Plan may do so either in writing and/or by providing testimony at the April 9, 2026 meeting of the Alexandria Housing Affordability Advisory Committee to be held at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria of the Del Pepper Community Resource Center, 4850 Mark Center Drive.

The Five-Year Consolidated Plan is a comprehensive planning document that identifies the housing and community development needs of the City of Alexandria’s extremely low-to moderate-income, homeless and special needs populations, as well as of any target areas identified by the City, and outlines strategies for addressing the needs of these groups and/or designated areas over a five-year period. The One-Year Action Plan describes actions to be taken during City FY 2027 to meet housing and community development needs identified in the City's Five-Year Consolidated Plan and serves as the City's application to HUD for an estimated $1.07 million in Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2026 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and $614,000 in Home Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) funds, subject to federal appropriations.
