Question: What are the future costs for codification? (Councilman Aguirre)

Response:

The current estimated cost for codification of the City Code and the Zoning Ordinance is $20,264, which is an increase of $4,264 for FY 2026. The City Clerk’s Office is currently budgeted at $16,000 for FY 2026. The department plans to use the funding received for records management to cover the increase.

The department has averaged a surplus of $18,808 in its overall budget between FY 2024 & FY 2025.

The cost codification of the City Code and the Zoning Ordinance for FY 2027 is $25,612, which is an increase of $9,612 compared to what is currently budgeted. This is due to an increase in the passage of ordinances included in the codification. The cost also includes the fee for online maintenance of the Code on the website as well as maintenance of the OrdBank (online legislation database) on the website (approximately $2,000).
