Repaving and Street Maintenance Update – May 18-22
Repaving and Street Maintenance Update – May 18-22
Citywide street repaving work will not take place the week of May 18-22 due to contractor staffing levels and equipment availability. Posted signs for previously scheduled work have been removed in impacted areas. Residents and businesses will receive updated notices as more information becomes available.
A limited number of street maintenance operations will continue as scheduled in the week of May 18-22, including:
- Repaving work on the Richmond Highway/Route 1 Bus Rapid Transit lanes (from Glebe Road to Swann Avenue)
- Concrete repair and maintenance work at multiple locations
As a reminder, the Street Repaving list and schedule are subject to change. Factors that may affect work include, but are not limited to, weather conditions, equipment, other ongoing and future City projects, and utility work coordination.
The City of Alexandria’s Department of Transportation and Environmental Services is responsible for the maintenance and repair of sidewalks, alleys, and more than 561 lane miles of road. The repaving, patching, sidewalk, and alley programs reflect our commitment to maintaining this infrastructure in good condition for pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and all users to safely travel through the City.
