Sheriff Casey Attends Law Enforcement and Immigration Task Force Forum
On Monday, June 8th, Sheriff Casey joined the National Immigration Forum in Washington, D.C. for their Law Enforcement and Immigration Task Force Panel Discussion. The event brought together leaders from law enforcement, businesses, religious groups, and healthcare organizations from across the nation to discuss the impacts and challenges of state immigration legislation and the actions Congress needs to take. This forum focused on how broad coalitions of faith, law enforcement, and business voices engaged with legislators on state immigration bills this session.
Community Events in June!
In the month of June, Sheriff Casey, Lt. Ignacio, Sgt. Juarez, and others from the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office attended a multitude of community events. These events included Scam Prevention classes for seniors in our community, the Law Enforcement Torch Run supporting the Special Olympics, the Moms Demand Action annual Wear Orange to End Gun Violence event, Senior Law Day with Senior Services of Alexandria, Juneteenth celebrations, and several end of school year and graduation events. On June 30th, several other members of the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office attended a community cookout at Casa Chirilagua. ASO had an amazing time connecting with community members and city partners alike for this event.
Connecting with and supporting community members across the City of Alexandria is a priority for Sheriff Casey and the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office. By better understanding the needs of our community and fostering partnerships, we can work better together to make Alexandria a safe and thriving city.
Turtle Traffic Jam!
While on his way to work, Deputy Runquist found himself having to deal with a slow-moving traffic situation. A certain shell-covered community member had found himself in the middle of Eisenhower Avenue. Deputy Runquist quickly assessed the situation and made sure the turtle was safely relocated from the roadway to a pond near the Alexandria Detention Center.
Protecting and serving our community means ensuring everyone is safe, whether they're two-legged, four-legged, shell-covered, or anything in between.
Thanks, Deputy Runquist, for keeping an eye out for all members of our community!
