Following convictions in trials by jury, the Alexandria Circuit Court sentenced co-defendants Ja’Real Wilkins and Tysheem Boykins to terms of active incarceration. 

On July 9, 2026, Ja’Real Wilkins, a 37-year-old resident of the City of Alexandria, was sentenced by the Honorable Heidi E. Meinzer to 40 years of active incarceration on two felony counts of Rape and one felony count of Forcible Sodomy.  

On July 14, 2026, Tysheem Boykins, a 27-year-old resident of Falls Church, was sentenced by the Honorable Kathleen M. Uston to 16 years of active incarceration on one felony count of Forcible Sodomy and one felony count of Robbery by Threat.  

The charges arose from an investigation into the report of a sexual assault in progress at a hotel located at 110 S. Bragg Street in the City of Alexandria on September 25, 2022. The Alexandria Police Department was the lead investigative agency on the matter and determined that sexual assaults were committed by two individuals, one of whom also committed a robbery.  

The details of Wilkins’ sentence are as follows: 

On each count of Rape, the Court sentenced the defendant to 50 years of incarceration, with 35 years suspended. On the charge of Forcible Sodomy, the Court sentenced the defendant to 50 years of incarceration with 40 years suspended. The Court ordered all sentences to run consecutively, resulting in a total term of active incarceration of 40 years. 

The Court suspended the remainder of the sentence upon the following terms: the defendant’s uniform good behavior; his compliance with supervised probation for the remainder of his life, to include compliance with mental health and substance abuse treatment; compliance with the sex offender registry and completion of a sex offender’s program; no contact with the victim; and his payment of the costs of his prosecution. The Court also entered a lifetime protective order prohibiting the defendant from contacting the victim. 

The details of Boykins’ sentence are as follows:

 On the charge of Forcible Sodomy, the Court sentenced the defendant to 35 years of incarceration with 20 years suspended. On the charge of Robbery by Threat, the Court sentenced the defendant to five years of incarceration with four years suspended. The Court ordered all sentences to run consecutively, resulting in a total term of active incarceration of 16 years. 

The Court suspended the remainder of the sentence upon the following terms: the defendant’s uniform good behavior; his compliance with supervised probation for the remainder of his life, to include compliance with mental health and substance abuse treatment; compliance with the sex offender registry and all special conditions of probation for sex offenders; completion of the victim impact course, a restriction on alcohol or drug use; no contact with the victim; and his payment of the costs of his prosecution. The Court also entered a lifetime protective order prohibiting the defendant from contacting the victim. 

The matter was prosecuted by Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorneys Harsh Voruganti and Ashtyn McDaniel. The cases were investigated by Detective Kristina Loerch of the Alexandria Police Department. 

Alexandria Commonwealth’s Attorney Bryan Porter said: “These codefendants have both been sentenced to significant terms of active incarceration. While no sentence can truly remedy the trauma suffered by the victim of such terrible crimes, the lengthy prison terms will stop these sex offenders from harming other potential victims and serve as a deterrent to others who might contemplate similar crimes. I would like to thank the Alexandria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division for the thorough and professional investigation in this case.”   

 Both defendants are held without bail in the William G. Truesdale Alexandria Adult Detention Center pending transfer to the Department of Corrections.
