Alexandria Police Seek Community's Assistance in Graffiti Investigation Involving Alleged Incident of Bias

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The Alexandria Police Department is requesting the community's assistance in an ongoing investigation of an incident of bias involving graffiti discovered at multiple locations on the Mount Jefferson Park pathway. The incidents are believed to have occurred between 11:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, and approximately 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2026. The graffiti includes the words "ICE," "REPORT TO DEPORT," and the phone number "1-866-DHS-2-ICE."

APD is actively working to identify those responsible. As part of the investigation, detectives have canvassed the affected areas, interviewed community members, reviewed available video footage, and obtained a search warrant to further investigative efforts.

APD takes these incidents seriously and recognizes the concern that messages of this nature can create within our community.

"Incidents that incite fear or make members of our community feel targeted have no place in Alexandria," said Chief of Police Tarrick McGuire. "Every member of our community deserves to feel safe and respected. We are committed to thoroughly investigating these incidents, and we are asking for the community's help in identifying those responsible."

Investigators are asking for the community's help identifying a person of interest captured in this image. Anyone who recognizes the individual or has information about these incidents is asked to contact Detective Kay at 703-746-6263. Callers may remain anonymous.

Community members with video footage or photographs from the 100 and 200 blocks of Clifford Avenue, the 3000 block of Manning Street, or areas surrounding the Mount Jefferson Park pathway is asked to submit them securely through APD's Evidence Portal at https://alexandriapdva.evidence.com/axon/community-request/public/grafitti.
