APD Investigates a Multi-Vehicle Crash

For Immediate Release: February 23, 2022

(*UPDATE 6/28/22 4:40 p.m.*) -- The Alexandria Police Departments' investigation revealed that the driver of the suspect vehicle, Carlos McKethan, a 42-year-old non-city resident, was at fault.  Warrants for DUI and Involuntary Manslaughter were obtained for Mr. McKethan.

After four months of actively attempting to locate Mr. McKethan, he was taken into custody on 6/22/22 by Fairfax County Police.  On 6/23/22, Mr. McKethan was transferred into the custody of the Alexandria Police and transported to the Alexandria Adult Detention Center. He is being held with no bond. 

 

 

 

Alexandria, VA --The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a multi-vehicle crash that occurred late Tuesday evening

APD officers were dispatched to the multi-vehicle crash at approximately 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, in the 3200 block of Duke Street. On arrival, police observed five vehicles in the roadway that sustained damage from the crash.

The crash resulted in one fatality, one critical injury, one serious injury, and two minor injuries. Preliminary investigation suggests speed may have been a contributing factor in this incident. 

APD’s Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash and we are asking anyone with information related to this incident to please contact Ofc.
