City of Alexandria to Celebrate National Night Out

For Immediate Release: July 27, 2022

On Tuesday, August 2, 2022, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Alexandria Police Department, Alexandria Fire Department, Alexandria Sheriff’s Office, City officials, and other City agencies will partner with community members to celebrate National Night Out (NNO). NNO is a celebration of community and public safety agencies coming together to promote community policing partnerships.

During the event, residents throughout Alexandria are asked to come outside and enjoy the evening with their neighbors, police, firefighters, and other City officials. Events held will vary by neighborhood and include cookouts, block parties, and more.

The Alexandria Police Department's K-9 Unit, Motorcycle Unit, Bike Patrol, Command Bus, and Crime Scene Mobile Lab will tour neighborhoods and offer special demonstrations.

“National Night Out is a fun evening for all. Our agency believes in community policing and National Night out gives us a chance to celebrate our success in working together to reduce crime and improve the quality of life throughout our city,” said Chief Don Hayes. “I look forward to seeing everyone in the community."

NNO is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support for anti-crime programs, and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized, and they are working with law enforcement to help prevent crime.

We are asking if you take pictures while celebrating NNO to please add the hashtag: #ALXNNO22.
