Alexandria Police and Fire Respond to Apparent Electrocution in Del Ray

This morning at 10:09 a.m., the Alexandria Fire and Police Departments responded to a report of an apparent electrocution in the unit block of West Mount Ida Avenue.

Upon arrival, crews located an arborist who was unresponsive. A preliminary investigation found that a branch in the tree he was trimming made contact with a live power line.

Dominion Power responded to assist in clearing the electrical hazard.

The worker was pronounced deceased at the scene and detectives are notifying next of kin.
