APD Charges Three Juveniles in Wythe Street Shooting/Homicide

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 27, 2025

During a press conference today, the Alexandria Police Department announced that three juveniles have been criminally charged in the Wythe Street shooting on September 19, 2024, that left one adult male deceased and two others wounded. The juveniles, in their late teens, each have been charged with Murder by Mob, Malicious Wounding by Mob (x2), and Use of Firearm in the Commission of a Felony (3x).

The juveniles remain in custody within other jurisdictions and are being held without bond.

Chief Tarrick McGuire said, "Our officers, detectives, and investigators bring closure to our community today by bringing charges to the suspects in this homicide." "It is through ballistic technology and the support of our regional jurisdictions that we are able to bring cases like this to prosecution," said McGuire.

He concluded with a call to action, "There is no place for gun violence in our community. What's most concerning about this, is that today I stand in front of our community to say that we have charged three juveniles with gun violence, it's not a proud moment. I'm asking everyone to ensure we are taking steps to prevent gun violence and to safely store your guns and not leave them inside your vehicle where they can easily be stolen."
