Alexandria, VA – The Alexandria Police Department has concluded a criminal investigation with the arrest of the third and final suspect in a violent shooting incident that occurred in the 800 block of W. Glebe Road on July 30, 2024.

Detectives from the Alexandria Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division identified and charged 22-year-old Justin McKnight of Alexandria, 22-year-old Demetrius Charlton of Fairfax, and 20-year-old Jhamal Muskelly of Alexandria, in connection with the shooting, during which multiple rounds struck an occupied home. All three firearms used in this case have been recovered. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

On May 19, 2025, a grand jury returned indictments against all three individuals, each charged with one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling. The final suspect was apprehended on May 28, 2025, following a coordinated operation involving the Alexandria Police Department Special Investigations Unit, the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, and the Fairfax County Police Department Fugitive Unit.

All three individuals have a history of violent criminal activity, involving firearms and narcotics, and are known to law enforcement as subjects of prior investigations. They all remain in custody without bail.

This investigation spanned nearly 10 months due to the complexity of the case, which required extensive forensic analysis and coordination across multiple jurisdictions. Ballistics testing played a critical role in linking the recovered firearms to the scene and identifying the individuals responsible. Detectives also conducted numerous interviews and executed multiple search warrants as part of their effort to gather sufficient evidence for prosecution.

“Make no mistake: gun violence has no place in Alexandria. We are committed to pursuing anyone who threatens the safety of our community and holding them fully accountable under the law. This arrest sends a clear message—we will use every available resource and partnership to protect our residents and keep our streets safe,” said Alexandria Police Chief, Tarrick McGuire.

This case highlights the dedication and collaboration of multiple law enforcement agencies working together to bring violent offenders to justice and protect the safety of Alexandria residents.

Anyone with additional information regarding these individuals or this case is asked to contact APD Detective Marable at 703-746-6883.
