National Night Out – A Safer, Stronger Alexandria Starts With Us!

Event Date: Tuesday, August 5, 2025
Time: Evening (times vary by neighborhood)
Location: In your community—on your block, in your building, or with your group!

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The City of Alexandria invites residents to take part in National Night Out 2025, a nationwide event that encourages community engagement, public safety partnerships, and crime prevention through neighborhood unity.

On Tuesday, August 5, communities throughout Alexandria will host local events—ranging from outdoor block parties and cookouts to lobby meet-ups and ice cream socials—to connect with neighbors and show support for a safer city. The Alexandria Police Department, along with the Alexandria Fire Department, Sheriff's Office, and City leadership, will visit registered locations throughout the evening.

Whether you live in a single-family home, apartment building, or townhouse, or are part of a civic association, HOA, or house of worship, your neighborhood is encouraged to participate.

By hosting or joining an event, residents help:

  • Build stronger neighbor-to-neighbor relationships
  • Demonstrate unity in crime prevention
  • Promote a culture of awareness and community care
  • Welcome Alexandria's first responders and City officials into the heart of our neighborhoods

Want to host an event?
Register your gathering with the Alexandria Police Department to be added to the official list of National Night Out sites and ensure a visit from public safety personnel.

Register at: www.alexandriava.gov/NNO

Let’s come together on August 5 to say: “We look out for each other—because Alexandria is our home.”
