Alexandria Police Charge Suspect in Berkeley Street Homicide
ALEXANDRIA, VA – Detectives of the Alexandria Police Department have charged a suspect in the homicide that occurred Saturday night at 3450 Berkeley Street.
Damontie James, a 26-year-old of Alexandria, has been charged with Second Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony and is in custody at this time. James is believed to have shot and killed 29-year-old Kory Anding of Alexandria during a domestic dispute involving his sister.
Saturday evening at approximately 10:56 PM, Alexandria Police officers responded to 3450 Berkeley Street for the report of shots fired. Upon arrival, they discovered Anding deceased inside the apartment. James remained on the scene and was immediately detained.
The Office of the Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

Alexandria Police Investigate Homicide in Apartment Building on Berkeley Street
ALEXANDRIA, VA – Last night, at approximately 10:56 PM, Alexandria Police officers responded to 3450 Berkeley Street for the report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they located a man inside an apartment who had suffered a gunshot wound. Medics declared the man deceased on the scene.
The Office of the Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
At this early stage of the investigation, this appears to be domestic-related, and all parties involved are believed to be accounted for.
