The City of Alexandria’s Office of Climate Action announces a new program, Plug In Alexandria, to help multi-family communities install electric vehicle (EV) chargers by providing expert guidance and financial assistance. Whether you’re a condo association, homeowner’s association, or apartment complex, this program makes it easier and more affordable to install on-site EV charging stations for residents and guests.

Participating communities are eligible for:

  • Expert Technical Support – Receive a site visit and custom technical assessment from an engineering firm outlining the requirements, feasibility, and estimated costs to install EV chargers at your property.

  • Financial Assistance – Get reimbursed for 30% of eligible EV charger installation costs, up to $10,000—or up to $15,000 if your community is in a low-income community census tract.

Applications are currently open for the Plug In Alexandria program. Multi-family communities, including condominium associations, homeowner’s associations, and apartment owners or managers are eligible to apply.

The City will evaluate applications on a rolling basis, as funding allows. Submit your application by June 20, 2025 to be considered in the first round.

To learn more and to start your application, visit the Plug In Alexandria web page.
