ASO Provides Free Summer Safety Resources Now that school is out, kids are spending more time at home and visiting friends' homes and lots of families have summer travel plans. ASO wants to help keep Alexandrians safe and reminds residents of two free services to protect your home and your family. With our Away from Home Checks, deputies conduct visual surveys of homes and check accessible doors and windows while residents are out-of-town. ASO also provides free gun locks to prevent tragic accidents involving unsecured firearms and encourages parents to talk about gun safety with their children and with other parents and caregivers about their firearms storage before a child visits. | ![]() |
Second Chance Unit Residents Participate in Father’s Day Program Family ties are extremely important for people in custody and several Detention Center residents reflected on those relationships during a recent activity with a Father's Day focus. With guidance from Reentry Counselor Mustafa Saboor and Master Deputy Stubblefield, men in the Second Chance Unit discussed the lessons they learned from their own fathers and grandfathers, and some shared their hopes for their children. Each also painted a canvas or t-shirt inspired by the Father's Day theme, like Mr. McKoy's portrait of his grandfather who told him, “If it is to be, it’s up to me.” | ![]() |
