Alexandria Sheriff’s Office Charges Maryland Man with Threatening Judges

The Alexandria Sheriff’s Office has obtained felony warrants for Lindolfo Pedraza, a 53-year-old resident of Cumberland, Md., charging him with making violent threats against two Alexandria judges, and yesterday, the Cumberland Police Department arrested Pedraza at his home.

Upon learning last week that judicial officers had received several threatening communications, the Sheriff’s Office began a criminal investigation. Because of the serious nature of these threats, the Sheriff’s Office obtained warrants charging Pedraza with the following offenses:  Threats of death or bodily injury (two counts), Obstruction of justice (two counts), Harassment by computer (two counts), and Stalking (one count).

“In Alexandria, threats to judges or other judicial officers may be rare but are always taken very seriously. In this case, the threats of violence required immediate action,” says Sheriff Sean Casey. “Thanks to Investigator Cañas, our Investigations, Professionalism & Oversight team, the Alexandria Police Department, and the Cumberland Police Department for taking swift action that resulted in the suspect’s arrest.”

Pedraza is currently being held at the Allegany County Detention Center in Cumberland and is awaiting extradition to Alexandria.
