Volunteer or Attend the City of Alexandria’s Upcoming Earth Month Fix-It Clinic
The City of Alexandria’s Resource Recovery Division, in partnership with the Alexandria Library, will host a Fix-It Clinic for Earth Month on Monday, April 28. The City is calling for volunteers to share their time and talent in repairing household items, and attendees looking to learn more about the positive impact repairing everyday items has on resource use.
Volunteer "Fix-It Coaches" will work side-by-side with attendees, offering guidance and expertise in troubleshooting and repairing broken items. The event aims to demonstrate repair and DIY skills and encourage recovery and reuse as an option before throwing items away.
The Resource Recovery Division is looking for volunteers with experience in the following areas:
- Sewing
- Basic electronics repair
- Watch and jewelry repair
Alexandria residents looking to repurpose, repair, or upcycle these and other household items are also encouraged to attend and learn from volunteer coaches and Resource Recovery Division staff about the benefits of repairing items instead of replacing them.
