City of Alexandria to Host Virtual Community Meeting on Project to Mitigate Airport Noise Impact South of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) - May 22, 2025
The City of Alexandria invites residents to learn about recommendations from the South of Airport Noise Mitigation Project at a virtual community meeting on May 22, 2025, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
The South of Airport Noise Mitigation Project began in May 2023 when the City of Alexandria, in coordination with Fairfax County and Prince George’s County, entered a two-year airport noise study with Vianair Consulting. The goal of the study was to work together to develop recommendations to modify flight procedures in an effort to reduce aircraft noise impacts in communities south of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).
During the virtual community meeting, Vianair Consulting staff will provide an overview of the study, project recommendations, and next steps. City staff will also be in attendance to answer questions community members may have about the study.
The airport noise study included collaborations and engagement with residents, staff representatives from the three jurisdictions, and Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA)-sponsored DCA community Working Group (CWG) members from each jurisdiction. Next steps for the project will include collaboration and engagement from MWAA and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
More information on the study can be found on the Vianair website.
The City’s Noise website has more information and a Zoom link to the virtual meeting.
