Repaving and Street Maintenance Update: June 9-13
Repaving and Street Maintenance Update: June 9-13
The City of Alexandria’s Department of Transportation and Environmental Services is responsible for the maintenance and repair of sidewalks, alleys, and more than 561 lane miles of road. The repaving, patching, sidewalk, and alley programs reflect our commitment to maintaining this infrastructure in good condition for pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and all users to safely travel through the City.
Businesses and residents whose streets are scheduled for repaving receive advance notice – typically by displayed project signs and/or letters. Temporary “No Parking” signs will also be posted before work begins. Please be sure to observe these signs to avoid tickets and potential towing of vehicles.
As a reminder, the Street Repaving list and schedule are subject to change. Factors that may affect work include, but are not limited to, weather conditions, equipment, other ongoing and future City projects, and utility work coordination. Planned work is promptly rescheduled when conditions improve.
Citywide Street Repaving
- Madison Street (from West Street to end)
- Mill Road (from Mandeville Road to Eisenhower Avenue)
Citywide Concrete Maintenance
Concrete maintenance on Duke Street from Roth Avenue to Wheeler Avenue began Monday, May 19 in preparation for street repaving work and is expected to continue for the next three weeks. Drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians should anticipate lane closures and delays during this period to ensure work can be completed safely and efficiently.
