The City Council Legislative Subcommittee consists of Mayor Alyia Gaskins and Councilman Kirk McPike. The Subcommittee members work with the City's Legislative Director and subject matter experts from City staff to discuss General Assembly legislation of interest and impact to the City of Alexandria.
The Subcommittee proposes positions on legislation, and a resulting lobbying strategy, for approval by the full City Council.
The Subcommittee meets at least once ahead of the Virginia General Assembly convening in January and, during session, meets weekly until the mid-point of session.
