Strive & Thrive is the Workforce Development’s commitment to deliver services and programs remotely and online in order to reach more residents and employers seeking assistance during COVID-19. This initiative supports Alexandria’s workforce and employers by providing employment services, job readiness and essential skills workshops, information sessions, plus one-to-one job coaching and guidance to accessing financial resources.

 

 

 

Employment Services

Virtual Job Fairs
An online job fair, also known as a virtual job fair or electronic job fair, is an online version of a traditional job fair. They allow employers and job seekers to meet and discuss employment opportunities through text and video chat. Upcoming events will be listed on the Assistance for Workers and Job Seekers web page.

Meet the Employer Events
These virtual events bring together a team from an employer with job seekers and highlight immediate employment opportunities. Upcoming events will be listed on the Assistance for Workers and Job Seekers web page.

Job Readiness and Essential Skills Workshops and Webinars
Job seekers can enhance their job readiness through free WDC workshops and webinars on topics like virtual job searching, interviewing and resume building. View and register for upcoming workshops.

Youth Employment Services 2021
To serve Alexandria youth, WDC adapted its annual Summer Youth Employment Program to offer youth ages 14-21 a virtual workforce development experience. Youth Employment Services provides career development, education enrichment and summer income to 200 youth, who will participate in live webinars, small group video meetings, one-on-one coaching and other online experiences. Learn more.

Job Board
WDC’s online Job Board connects job seekers and employers. Job seekers can post resumes and review the latest openings and job opportunities. Employers can post positions, review potential candidates. Learn more.
