Minnie Howard Turns 1

Join us as we celebrate one incredible year of community, movement, and memorable moments at the Minnie Howard Aquatics Facility! We're marking the milestone with a full day of free activities for all ages, a live DJ, giveaways, and light refreshments. Please remember to wear or bring your swimsuit.

WHEN: Friday, August 29  |  11 a.m.-7 p.m.
WHERE: Minnie Howard Aquatics Facility, 3795 W Braddock Rd.
RSVP: Spots are limited for each activity, and participants must RSVP individually for every session they’d like to join. Browse the schedule below and click to reserve your place in each activity!

All activities are free; please RSVP to the sessions you’d like to join! Check out the schedule and descriptions below. Space is limited for each class, so reserve your spot today and arrive early to check in. Don’t forget your swimsuit!

11 a.m: Deep Water Boot Camp (max. 25)

(Ages 16+) Build strength, endurance, balance, and flexibility in this high-energy workout using noodles and dumbbells. Includes steady-state cardio and HIIT in the diving well. Instructor: Candice

11:30 a.m: Aqua Soothe for Arthritis (max. 25)

(Ages 16+) Improve joint mobility, posture, flexibility, and balance in the warm waters of the therapy pool—perfect for those seeking low-impact movement for healthy aging. Instructor: Candice

12 p.m: Low Impact Exercise, Ages 16+ (max. 25)

(Ages 16+) A gentle, no-impact class in the 90° therapy pool that focuses on stretching, balance, and everyday functional movement. Ideal for those avoiding jumping or intense cardio. Instructor: Candice

12:45 p.m: My Body Don't Bend That Way Warm Water Yoga Therapy (max. 25)

(Ages 16+) Designed for those recovering from physical or emotional conditions. This gentle class improves mobility, balance, and range of motion while reducing pain and tension. Instructor: Simpson Aquatics

1:20 p.m: Warm Water Arthritis (max. 25)

(Ages 16+) Tailored for those with arthritis or similar conditions, this class supports movement and flexibility in a safe, soothing environment for all ability levels. Instructor: Simpson Aquatics

1:55 p.m: Floating Sound Bath (max. 25)

(Ages 16+) Relax and float as you’re surrounded by healing sounds—from singing bowls to drums—in a calming, meditative experience that promotes full-body relaxation and inner peace. Instructor: Simpson Aquatics

2 p.m: Beginner Diving Class (max. 8)

(Ages 7+) New to diving? Learn the fundamentals in a safe and supportive environment with step-by-step instruction in basic diving techniques. Instructor: Simpson Aquatics

4 p.m: Ripple Masters 4 (max. 8)

(Ages 7–12) Great for young swimmers who can swim a full pool length. This class introduces basic strokes and builds skills in the deeper competition pool. Instructor: Simpson Aquatics

4 p.m: Aqua Babies 1 (max. 20)

(Ages 6–15 mos. with adult) Explore the water together with songs and games. Parents assist little ones as they learn water entry, breath control, floating, and playful movement. Instructor: Simpson Aquatics

(Ages 15 mos.-2 1/2 yrs. with adult) Explore the water together with songs and games. Parents assist little ones as they learn water entry, breath control, floating, and playful movement. Instructor: Simpson Aquatics

4:50 p.m: Water Buds 3 (max. 10)

(Ages 4–6) For kids who are confident in the water and can fully submerge. Focuses on basic skills to build comfort and independence. Instructor: Simpson Aquatics
