FY 2021 Approved Operating Budget & CIP Documents
On April 29, 2020, the Alexandria City Council unanimously adopted a Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 General Fund Operating Budget of $753.3 million, which represents decrease of 1.6% over the current year. The real estate tax rate remains at $1.13 per $100 of assessed value. The approved budget reflects the changes submitted by the City Manager on April 7, 2020 in response to the COVID-19 public health emergency. The approved budget includes $234.0 million in operating funds for public schools (a 1.0%, or $2.4 million increase over FY 2020 funding), and invests $2.1 billion over 10 years in Alexandria’s Capital Improvement Program.
