DCHS INTRODUCES NEW SERVICES TO SUPPORT MENTAL HEALTH FOR MEMBERS OF THE MILITARY, VETERANS, AND THEIR FAMILIES
October 4, 2023: The City of Alexandria is pleased to announce a new service for individuals who are Service Members, Veterans, or their Families (SMVF). Alexandria and Arlington County have joined forces to create a Behavioral Health Specialist position designed specifically to assist in making connections to behavioral healthcare services.
Services provided may include case management to help navigate, coordinate and access services as well as clinical referrals for individuals experiencing depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, military sexual trauma, brain injury, physical abuse, substance use disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, homelessness and more.
For additional information including how to access services, please contact Nicol Jackson at Nicol.Jackson@alexandriava.gov or 703.965.6279.
To learn more about additional resources for veterans, please visit alexandriava.gov/Veterans for information and resources on housing, education, health, employment and more.
For urgent mental health care support, please visit the Mental Health Crisis Programs page.
If you or someone you know are experiencing a mental health crisis, the City of Alexandria has multiple resources to ensure you are able to easily get the most appropriate care possible. Most of these resources are available 24/7, and none of them require a referral.
