DCHS RELEASES 2025 COMMUNITY IMPACT REPORT
February 2, 2026: Alexandria’s Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) released its annual Community Impact Report for fiscal year 2025. This report reflects our collective drive to achieve the vision that all residents of Alexandria enjoy a sense of well-being, safety, and self-sufficiency.
The report outlines the Department’s accomplishments around a range of programs aimed at improving the lives of residents across the life span and provides data on the 40,000+ people served as well as information about DCHS operations and budget.
DCHS Director Kate Garvey wrote, “We are fortunate that all of this work takes place in a community where kindness and generosity are the norm. Alexandria is a place where remarkable things are possible because of the shared commitment to creating a community where all residents can succeed and the understanding that we all have a part to play in that creation.”
Throughout the year, the Department keeps the community engaged and informed of its activities and provides regular updates on resources for those in need through a range of channels, including Facebook, X, Instagram, the official website, City Council Digest, the Connect online publication, eNews, press releases, and flyers.
The community impact report is another informative medium to communicate comprehensive information on the work of DCHS and its partners and to highlight the strength and resilience of those we serve.
