City of Alexandria to Host Virtual Community Meeting on Duke Street Traffic Mitigation Pilot

Alexandria residents are invited to attend a virtual community meeting to discuss the results of Duke Street Traffic Mitigation Pilot Phase II, as well as the possibility of extending the pilot permanently. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 29 from 7 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A brief presentation will be held at the beginning for 15 minutes and questions and comments will follow. To attend this meeting, participants must register in advance: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_vKFx2O4BSmiDdedq0cvjrA.

After registering, participants will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

About the Duke Street Traffic Mitigation Pilot

On February 27, the Traffic and Parking Board recommended approval to extend the Duke Street Phase II Pilot to May, 31, 2023. This extension allows additional time for City staff to collect more data, engage with the community, and investigate a possible permanent extension of the pilot. The Duke Street Pilot Phase II project currently restricts direct access to Telegraph Road from West Taylor Run Parkway, as well as update signal timings during the p.m. peak hours to reduce cut-through traffic on local roadways and improve traffic flow on Duke Street.
