Alexandria, Va. – Alexandria residents can still weigh in on the Zoning for Housing/Housing for All initiative. The proposal, released in early September, aims to tackle the challenge of housing for all Alexandrians. Multiple community meetings have been held to receive community feedback. City Council will now hold the public hearing over two days.

  • Tuesday, November 14, at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall’s Council Chamber (301 King St.)
    • The public hearing on this item starts at 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 18, at 9:30 a.m., in City Hall’s Council Chamber (301 King St.)

The press and public are invited to attend.

City Council will vote on the proposal on November 28.

Attendees can sign up to speak online or in person. For those unable to attend, the hearing will be broadcast live on AlexTV, and a recording of the hearing will be available after the event.

The City's Zoning for Housing/Housing for All initiative is an effort to tackle the challenge of housing accessibility, affordability, availability facing many Alexandrians due to a lack of supply and because of institutional barriers to equitable access. Through comprehensive zoning reform proposals and anti-discrimination policies, the City of Alexandria is committed to ensuring that all Alexandrians are given the opportunity to survive and thrive.
