Commonwealth, Ashby, Glebe Flood Mitigation Project Community Meeting – February 19
The City of Alexandria will host a public meeting on Wednesday, February 19 to share information on the Commonwealth, Ashby, Glebe Flood Mitigation Project.
The Commonwealth, Ashby, Glebe Flood Mitigation Project combines two large-capacity projects and will provide flood relief for the area bounded by Commonwealth Avenue, East Glebe Road, and Ashby Street.
The project includes new storm sewers and additional inlets to increase the capacity of the storm sewer system and reduce flooding. Additionally, the project includes the installation of a new outfall to discharge runoff to Four Mile Run, and green infrastructure practices to provide water quality benefits to the watershed.
The meeting will be held 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. in the Sister Cities Room 1101 at City Hall with an option to attend via Zoom using the link below.
City staff will be available to share details on the goals of the project, its schedule, and the expected impacts during construction. Project leaders will also be available to answer questions from the community.
