The City of Alexandria invites the community to a resource fair on March 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Market Square (301 King St.). The Fiscal Year 2026 "Budget Bonanza" is an opportunity for residents to learn about key investments in areas of youth programming, housing, public safety, infrastructure, and economic development. City staff will be on site to answer questions, provide resources, and collect feedback. 

For individuals looking for a new or better job, the Department of Human Resources will be on site during the resource fair with information about our currently posted positions.  

If you’re interested in attending, you can RSVP by filling out your information by Wednesday, March 19, however, an RSVP is not required to attend. 

Other Opportunities to Stay Informed and Be Engaged 

The City of Alexandria City Council will hold additional meetings and work sessions throughout the remaining FY 2026 budget process. Scheduled budget meetings will have both in-person and remote attendance options. Visit alexandriava.gov/Budget for the most up-to-date list of meeting dates, times, and locations. All events listed begin at 7 p.m., unless otherwise noted. 

  • Monday, March 17 - Budget Work Session #4   

  • Wednesday, March 19 - City Manager Budget Pop Up 

  • Wednesday, March 26 - Budget Work Session #5   

  • Tuesday, April 8 - City Council Public Hearing Meeting - FY 2026 Budget Tax Rate Public Hearing (5:30 p.m.) followed by FY 2026 Budget Add Delete Public Hearing Meeting (6 p.m.)  

  • Tuesday, April 22 - FY 2026 Budget: Non-Real-Estate Tax Public Hearing (6:30 p.m.) followed by Budget Work Session #6-Preliminary Add/Delete (7 p.m.) 

  • Monday, April 28 - Budget Work Session #7-Final Add/Delete (if necessary)  

  • Wednesday, April 30 - FY 2026 Budget Adoption/Tax Rate Adoption (6 p.m.)
