The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, December 5. Snow, with total snow accumulations near 1 inch is expected for our area. A light snow will overspread the advisory area, with slightly higher amounts possible in any banding features. As snow winds down, a light freezing drizzle is possible into Friday afternoon.
Given temperatures will be in the 20s, snow is expected to accumulate on all untreated surfaces. Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 511.
City facilities and offices will be open as usual on Friday, December 5, 2025. Employees will have the option to use Liberal (Unscheduled) Leave if needed.

The Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) has extended their 2355-A Mill Rd Winter Shelter hours from 7 p.m. Thursday, December 4 through 7 a.m. Saturday, December 6.

In addition, the following Alexandria Library branches are open during the following hours for cooling needs during hot weather:
- Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.,
- Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
