City of Alexandria Seeks Community Input on Trail Access and Safety Improvements Along Braddock Road

The City of Alexandria seeks community input on proposed improvements along Braddock Road between Russell Road and North West Street to enhance safety, accessibility, and connections to trails and transit.

Potential corridor and intersection improvements include:

  • Enhanced pedestrian crossings
  • Better access to the Braddock Road Metrorail Station
  • Improved connections to the Potomac Yard Trail and Metro Linear Trail
  • Safety improvements for people walking, biking, driving, and taking transit
  • Simplified signal timing

Here’s how to participate:

  1. Provide feedback via the online feedback form by October 3.
  2. Attend the project open house (optional).
  • Wednesday, September 17 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm
  • George Washington Middle School cafeteria
  • 1005 Mt Vernon Ave, Alexandria, VA 22301
  • Enter through main entrance (door 1) via parking lot

The City will use this feedback to inform final design proposals. The project supports recommendations from the Alexandria Mobility Plan and the 2023 Safe Routes to School Walk Audit at George Washington Middle School. The project also addresses priority areas for pedestrian and bicycle safety improvements identified by the Virginia Department of Transportation.
