The City of Alexandria is excited to announce that in partnership with EcoAction Arlington, for a limited time, everyone who submits an Eco-City Homes application can receive a FREE programmable, Wi-Fi enabled thermostat or home energy efficiency kit. That means lower energy bills, better home comfort, and the knowledge that you’re part of a sustainable Alexandria.
Applying is easy: simply fill out the short online Eco-City Homes form (available for renters, condo owners, and homeowners). The application serves as a guide, providing a checklist of steps to create a healthy, efficient, and comfortable home. Participants can choose one of the following incentives, provided by our partners at EcoAction:
- Programmable, Wi-Fi Enabled Thermostat
- Set schedules to reduce energy use
- Adjust settings remotely
- Improve comfort while saving 10% annually on heating and cooling
- Home Energy Efficiency Kit (DIY energy savers, such as):
- LED light bulbs and smart plugs
- Water-saving showerheads and faucet aerators
- Weatherstripping and other simple efficiency upgrades
Everyone is eligible! Whether you rent or own (condo owners included!), everyone is welcome to apply.
But don’t wait—incentives are only available while supplies last.
Why Join Eco-City Homes? Alexandria has an ambitious climate goal: we need 53,000 energy-efficient homes to meet our citywide targets. By joining Eco-City Homes, you’re showing your support and helping move Alexandria toward a greener, cleaner future. Participants also receive an Eco-City Homes yard sign and window cling to proudly show their commitment.
Plus, the actions in the Eco-City Homes application help you save money, make your home more comfortable, and improve indoor air quality and health.
