Celebrate Croatia in Alexandria at a Free Community Celebration

The City of Alexandria will host a community celebration to honor Croatian heritage. "Flavors & Sounds of Croatia – Alexandria" will take place on Saturday, June 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Waterfront Park (1 Prince Street). This event is free and open to the public. 

City Manager James Parajon will open the festivities with welcome remarks, followed by remarks recognizing Alexandria’s partnership with the Croatian Embassy. We are excited to invite you to this celebration.

Event at a Glance

  • When: Saturday, June 6, from 5 to 8 p.m.
  • Where: Waterfront Park (1 Prince Street)
    • Rain Location: Torpedo Factory Art Center, first floor (105 N Union Street)
  • Admission: Free and open to the public

Live Entertainment

The event will feature live Croatian music and dance performances, including two confirmed acts, with additional performers to be announced.

  • Muška klapa Podvorje: A Croatian a cappella group whose rich, harmonized vocals are rooted in the Dalmatian coastal tradition.
  • Authentic Croatian Tamburitza Band: Musicians and traditional folk dancers performing the beloved Croatian tamburitza style. Expect lively rhythms, vibrant costumes, and an atmosphere that will transport you straight to Croatia.

Food, Drinks & Experiences

Come hungry and ready to explore! Food vendors and local food trucks will be on-site, with additional participants to be announced, including:

  • Old House Cosmopolitan: Authentic Croatian cuisine and wine,
  • Museum of Illusions: Fun, hands-on games and discounts on museum tickets.
  • Dolci Gelati: Local artisan gelato.
  • Local Alexandria Food Trucks: A selection of Alexandria’s food trucks,

As the official team base camp for the Croatian National Football Team during the World Cup, Alexandria will welcome visitors and fans from around the world. Residents and visitors are invited to celebrate Croatian culture, music, and food along the waterfront.
