Hooff’s Run Culvert Maintenance and Park Improvements Phase II – Work Begins July 6

The second phase of maintenance work on the Hooff’s Run Culvert will begin Monday, July 6 (weather permitting) in the park located between East Oak Street and East Walnut Street. The project will include replacing the top section of the culvert to address structural issues identified during recent inspections. During the project period, the Department of Recreation, Parks, & Cultural Activities will also perform improvement work on the park facilities and tennis court.

A map of the park between East Oak Street and East Walnut Street. Commonwealth Avenue borders the park to the west. The park is outlined in a red dotted line and labeled "Park Closed Beginning July 6." A second label reads "Sidewalks & Streets remain Open"

During the project period, work hours will be Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., with work taking place as needed on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. No construction will take place on holidays. Work on the culvert maintenance and park improvements is expected to finish in Spring 2027, depending on weather conditions.

All project work and staging for materials and equipment will take place in the park. The park will remain closed for the duration of the project period. Temporary lane closures around the park may take place on occasion for material delivery and/or removal. City staff will be on-site to oversee work through the project period.
