The Alexandria Community Remembrance Project Steering Committee has launched a Committee of Inquiry into Post Civil War Alexandria 1865-1902. The goal is to explore Alexandria’s shared history, document events and add them to the narrative for this period of time to accurately reflect what happened in Alexandria during these pivotal years. A team of volunteer researchers is diligently reviewing primary sources to document the era. A team will review the findings and determine if there are opportunities for restitution legal, legislative or symbolic. A final report with recommendations will be issued at the conclusion of the Inquiry.
